cake off

Thursday was the scout Blue and Gold Banquet for Sam and his scout buddies.

For dessert, they decided to have each scout and their dad bake a cake, and have a cake contest.

Sam was really excited about this, and he and Ben found this idea and went with it.

It was fun to listen to them planning it and putting it together.

It was hard for me not to jump in and give my two cents here and there, but they did just fine on their own.

Sam wanted the road to be an S for Sam.

It is hard to see in the picture, but they made cars out of little candy bars, m&m wheels, and teddy grams for the drivers.

Their cake got 3rd place, and Sam was thrilled!

Sam also earned two belt loops, and the grin on his face says it all.

At one point in the program, the scout master did a sing along song/chant with everyone.
For some reason, William thought it was hilarious!  He was laughing so hard he couldn't even stand up straight. 
Watching him laugh, got everyone else laughing.  His big booming cackle is so contagious.
He seriously could not stop.  He just kept on cracking up harder and harder with each verse of the song.  He was actually doubled over at one point.
By the end of it all, William sat down in his chair with a huge sigh, and began wiping tears from his big loveable cheeks.
He had tears streaming down his face!  He had laughed until he cried!
It was so fun to watch him get such a kick out of it.


Sam absolutely loves the scouting program.  He gets so excited every week when it is time for scouts.  I love what the program teaches boys and I really hope that all of my boys have a desire to go through the program.

Way to go Sam!
