easter 2019

OK, honestly, I hardly even remember Easter.  I'm THAT behind on blogging.  ugh.  I do remember that it was a good day though.  The kids had fun dying eggs, and finding them the next morning.  And of course, I took the opportunity to get some cute pictures of them all dressed up.  Good times!

big buddy turns 9

William turned 9 in June!  So crazy that my adorable, roly poly squishy baby boy, is now growing up so fast.  It is always pretty special to share a Birthday with him.

He wanted to have a party with his friends, so that's what we did.  We sent out 15 invitations!  No joke. William has so many friends, and he is such a good friend to them all.  Needless to say, the party was outside, ha!  We did water kickball, a piniata, water football, a nerf gun war, and about every other boy game we could think of.  William had a blast.

William's best friend Camden gave him two loaves of white bread, and it was William's favorite gift!  Best friends know eachother well, and this proves it.  It was funny, and so spot on.

William had a great Birthday.  He got his traditional donut cake,

he opened his BBgun from us, and he played with friends and family.  William loves to play with friends.  He also really likes to play Minecraft on his Kindle and watch silly YouTube videos.  He starts another football season this week, and he is so excited!  William likes to snow ski, and his new passion is shooting guns.  He is such a lover at heart, but he definitely has some spice too.  He will always be my snuggle bug, because he is always so warm and fun to cuddle with.  He tries hard to be a good boy and he takes the Gospel seriously.  He is a good boy, and we love him so much!

police training at its finest

About a month before school got out, we had a couple days of nice weather. Yeah....winter lasted FOREVER this year.  It's all good though, because we really, really needed the snow to pull out of the drought.

Due to the nice weather, my kids all went outside to play.  Luke has been into police training the past year, and William took it upon himself to help Luke with his training.

First up...bike jumping.  Luke went sailing off the big bike jump on his bike, and crash landed hard on his hand.  He cried and cried and cried.  I was about to take him in to see if maybe he broke his thumb, but then he said it was feeling better, and went back outside to play.

The next part of police training was swinging as high as you can, and then jumping out.  Good grief!  I did not see it, but we have watched replays of this over and over again on our neighbors security camera.  The camera got it all, because they were in our neighbors backyard for this part of the training.  Luke got the swing extremely high, and then went sailing out of it.  He ended up cartwheeling in the air and landing directly on his arm.

I was in the house, and William came running through the door saying Luke was really hurt.  I went outside and saw Luke walking toward me, crying, and holding his arm.  He quickly stopped crying however, and wanted to play more.  I put a stop to the police training for the day though, and had Luke come inside.  He didn't cry much anymore, but he was constantly saying his forearm felt wobbly and he could not use it.  Not good. 

I gave him some medicine, padded his arm with a pillow and turned on a movie.  I let Luke sleep in our room, just in case his arm hurt in the night.  He actually slept through the entire night!  I was shocked, and figured his arm must not be broken.  He continued to complain the next morning though, that his arm was wobbly, and it was definitely starting to swell, especially his hand.

So....I took him to the doctor.

His radius was broken completely in half!  Holy Moly!

Luke was very upset about the broken arm.  Even when we told him he would get a cool cast, he was still so upset.  They put it in a sling, and told us to get his cast the following week.

We pinned a police star on the sling, and Luke put in his secret agent ear piece.  He was still completely dedicated to becoming a police officer, broken arm or not.

A week later, we drove to Primary Childrens to get his cast on.  They did another X-ray first.  The doctor came in and showed us the broken radius...completely in half...and also said Luke had a buckle fracture in his wrist!?!?!  What on earth!  We are pretty sure that happened when he fell of his bike.  Good grief!

Luke ended up getting an L cast, and the next 6 weeks with that thing were a complete nightmare.  Luke absolutely hated it.  He was claustrophobic, he could not move his arm in any way, it was so, so so itchy, it was hot, and Luke had an allergic reaction to the material, so he got boils all over his skin on that arm, that we could not touch or help.  It was terrible for him, and for all of us.  He was a very angry kid for a long time.

At the end of those 6 weeks, we went back to the cast clinic to see if Luke could move down to a shorter cast.  We were overjoyed when we found out he could get the L cast off.  Luke literally laughed when they took it off, because he was so excited.  His Birthday was the next day, and it was the perfect gift!

The second that cast came off, they told Luke he could itch his arm for a minute, before they put the short cast on.  I thought Luke would itch his skin off!  He scratched and scratched and scratched.  He just kept sighing because it felt so good!  They put some cream on his skin to help with the boils, and put his new cast on with a hypoallergenic material.

Luke's 7th Birthday was the next day.  We had a BIG party with tons of his friends.  We decided to do a pirate theme.  The kids did all sorts of pirate activities and had a great time.  It was so fun to be able to celebrate Luke.  He is ALL boy and I wouldn't change a thing.  He is so sweet and cute, and yet so driven and athletic.  He is unbelievably good at soccer, and he is amazing on his bike as well. He played for a mini club team this last season for soccer, and he was amazing!  He scored goals every game, and is really good at defending as well.  He played his last several games with a cast on his arm, but it did not slow him down! 

He tried out for the Olympia Club soccer team, and is now practicing with them.  I am so excited to see his first game with this team.  It is a group of extremely talented boys.
He is a very good kid, and rarely, if ever, starts problems.  He still suffers from bouts of anxiety that we are learning to work through, and my heart breaks for him in those moments, but he is forever my little Lukie.  We love him so much!

The short cast was on for another month, and Luke did not mention it even once.  It was wonderful!  The day he got that cast off, we had a party for Luke and roasted marshmallows and had smores.  Luke's request.

 Definitely not the way we would have chosen to start our summer, but we are grateful that it is done and over with.  Police officer Luke is right back at it!

preschool graduation year 1

 

Molly graduated from her 1st year of preschool in May.  After a horrible first month of her bawling every. single. day. , she realized that she LOVED it!  Molly is very smart, and her teachers were constantly commenting on that.  She is also really artistic.  Molly missed the cut-off date to go to kindergarten by 2 days, so she will have another year of preschool to do.  Ironically, she passed the kindergarten entrance exam twice already. Yikes!

 

Molly made some great friends.  Her best buddies were Soren and Charlie.  All of the kids are so cute and fun.  Molly had a blast, and loved school so much.  Good job Molly! 

 

Random picture, but Molly loved walking to preschool every day with Charlie.  He is her best buddy in the whole world.  Well, Charlie and unicorns.  :)
